About the award
Co-founded in 2013 by Automotive Business Review and Austria’s EFS, the award combines real-vehicle testing with expert judgment, examining both overall performance and contributions to the future of mobility.

Independent judging
Sourcing and nominations → independent preliminary review → professional testing → final deliberation.
China Car of the Year requires consensus without objection from all judges; the award may be left vacant. The Xuanyuan Award charter governs independent judging.
